The Godfrey Fire Protection District is part of MABAS Division 35.  MABAS or Mutual Aid Box Alarm System is a statewide organization consisting of over 550 agencies that have the capability to work together when a disaster strikes.  Division 35 is made up of 39 agencies in Madison County, 3 in Macoupin County, and 1 in Jersey County.  In addition to the automatic mutual aid agreement Godfrey has with Fosterburg Fire District, GFPD has the capability to receive mutual aid from any agency in Division 35 when it's own resources are overwhelmed.  For large incidents, responding agencies communicate on a common radio freqency called IFERN or Illinois Fire Emergency Radio Network.  This common channel allows for smooth and efficient communications between several departments that normally operate on different frequencies.

The Madison County Hazardous Materials Team is also part of Division 35.  This highly trained group of individuals are selected from fire departments across the county.  Team members go through several courses and attain certifications as Hazardous Materials Technicians from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.  The team's 2006 Pierce HAZMAT Truck is housed at Wood River Fire Department. This unit is stocked with equipment and supplies capable of identifying and mitigating a variety of hazardous materials incidents.  Division 35 also has an air truck that is housed at the Highland Pierron Fire District.  Both units are availible for response to Godfrey should an event exceed the capabilities of the fire district.  GFPD currently has four members on the team.
