The Village of Godfrey has recently started using CODE RED, a high speed emergency communication service. This system can notify residents and business owners within the village of potentially life threatening emergencies. The system is much more effective and informative than traditional tornado and civil defense sirens. Please take a minute and click on the CODE RED link at the top of our page. It will take you to a separate window that will provide more information on CODE RED and allow you to sign up for the service. |

GFPD was recently awarded a $429,904 federal grant to increase career staffing. Three additional career firefighters have been hired and started September 1st. GFPD welcomes probationary firefighters Doug Dankenbring to 1st shift, John Farmer to 2nd shift, and Aaron Blackford to 3rd shift. Doug was a volunteer firefighter with Bethalto, Illinois and is also employed by Alton Memorial Ambulance. John and Aaron were former paid on call firefighters for Godfrey. All three will attend the intensive six week Illinois State Fire Academy at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign-Urbana. This additional staffing will provide three firefighters at each station, a dramatic improvement. GFPD is honored to receive this highly competitive grant! |
